A Little Piece of Tara Swenson

For probably the third time since you've clicked on my blog, my name is Tara Swenson. I'm a fifth year at CSUSM and can't wait to [hopefully] start the single subject English credential program in the Fall. I lived in the same city, Orange, and in the same house my entire life until I turned 18 and moved to San Diego. I went to school k-12 in Orange with a majority of the same people throughout the years. I started at Fletcher Elementary School and graduated from Villa Park High School in 2007.

As far as computer technology goes, I feel I'm pretty well off, meaning I can work my way around a pc or a mac, with little difficulty or confusion. I've been using computers since my childhood and have familiarized myself with the internet, Microsoft, and other common programs. There is always more to learn though, and I anticipate furthering my knowledge in this course. Technology regarding other devices is quite limited, though. I just recently got my first and only Apple device-- a tiny ipod shuffle. If this cute little thing wasn't received as a gift, I probably still would not own i-anything.

Being a Women's Studies minor, I have been active and involved in diversity and social justice throughout my college years. This part of the School of Education mission statement speaks the most to me because these are practices that I believe in and adhere to. Although the mission statement is great to follow while on the road to becoming a teacher, it did not play into my decision to stay at CSUSM for the credential program.

Thanks for droppin' by.

PEACE.

  1. I frequently wonder after hearing stories like your own what my life would have been like if I didn't move; to grow up around all the same people and being in the same house my whole life!

I'm a Social Sciences major and I've taken a few Women's Studies courses- I love it!

  4. Hello Tara I'm also in the fifth and final year of my degree and hopefully will begin the single subject in the fall (history though) so I am excited as can be as well. Your story sounds kinda similar to mine. Never moving until after your an adult and not owning any i-product besides a gift. Also the pic is great. It never gets old seeing someone stand in front of those man-gorilla diagrams. Always puts a smile on my face. Good luck in the class
